Hyper-V

Hyper-V is a hypervisor created by Microsoft which is available :

• on Windows Server as a role
• on client versions of Windows as a feature
• as a free standalone server

However, the advantage of installing Hyper-V on a Windows Server server is that you can also use other Windows Server features, such as creating Hyper-V clusters for example, replicating virtual machines between Hyper-V clusters, ...

Finally, note that the free version of Hyper-V (the standalone server) is only available on the command line.
