An UPS or inverter mainly allows you to protect your server or computer against power cuts.
However, depending on the type of UPS you choose, it can also protect you against voltage variations (undervoltages and overvoltages, including the effects of a storm) thanks to its batteries (for low-end UPS) or thanks to a microprocessor (for high-end UPS).
In the case of a server, this allows you to avoid service interruptions, as well as to avoid its crashing in the event of a power cut or excessive variation in current.
