Active Directory (AD DS)

Active Directory

Active Directory (or AD DS for Active Directory Domain Services) is an LDAP directory created by Microsoft that allows you to centralize the identification and authentication of computers and users on a Microsoft intranet.

The deployment of an Active Directory domain controller (AD DS) makes it easier for system administrators and network administrators to manage the configuration and security of computers and servers, thanks in particular to group policies, but also thanks to the centralization of computers objects, users and groups (of users and/or computers).

Using an Active Directory domain controller also allows you to :

  • deploy software very easily using MSI packages
  • execute scripts when opening or closing the user session
  • centralize users' personal data thanks to roaming profiles and folder redirection
  • and more
