DHCP server

DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) allows you to distribute IP addresses to computers and servers on the network, but not only.

Indeed, the DHCP protocol also makes it possible to send a lot of additional information thanks to the DNS options :

003 Router : the IP address of the default gateway (router)
006 DNS Servers : the IP address of the DNS server(s) to be used
015 DNS Domain Name : the default suffix for the network connection. For example : the domain name of your Active Directory.
066 Boot Server Host Name : used to specify the name of a server for network boot (PXE)
067 Bootfile Name : allows you to specify the name of the boot file to download from the TFTP server (entered via option 066) when booting oover the network (PXE)
