Windows Server 2003

Windows Server 2003 is the server version of Windows XP created by Microsoft in 2003 and which succeed to Windows 2000 Server.

Windows Server 2003 improves compatibility with Active Directory services and eases the transition from Windows NT 4.0.
The IIS web server has also been recreated from scratch to improve its security and performance and is available in version 6.0.

On Windows Server 2003, no component is installed by default to prevent new machines with this version of Windows from being too vulnerable. Added to this is that the firewall is built in by default for security reasons again.

Important : Windows Server 2003 is no longer supported by Microsoft since July 2015.
