Network boot (PXE)

PXE

With PXE, you can boot a computer over the network by downloading a bootstrap file from a TFTP server. However, for this to be possible, the network card must be compatible and the ROM PXE thereof must be enabled in the BIOS of your computer.

PXE is used by various professional solutions, such as WDS for deploying Windows over the network and by some virtualization solutions such as Citrix PVS.
However, you can also create your own PXE network boot using PXELINUX which is a derivative of the Syslinux boot manager.
