Windows Server 2008 R2 is the server version of Windows 7 created in 2009 by Microsoft.
Since this version, the 64-bit architecture became mandatory to take advantage of Microsoft's server OS.
On Windows Server 2008 R2, you will benefit from a new virtualization layer thanks to Hyper-V. You can also migrate virtual machines from one Hyper-V server to another without having to restart your VMs thanks to the Live Migration.
Important : Windows Server 2008 R2 is no longer supported by Microsoft since January 2020.
