Apache HTTP Server

Apache HTTP Server is the most used web server on the Internet on Linux servers and is managed by the Apache foundation.
Although Apache HTTP Server is mainly used on Linux, it's also used via WAMP or other alternatives by developers to be able to develop their website locally before transferring it to online web hosting.

Apache HTTP Server is very complete thanks to a system of modules, some of which are widely used :

  • php : for dynamic sites and connection to a database, for example
  • rewrite : for rewriting url via a ".htaccess" file
  • ssl : for securing your website and supporting HTTPS
  • http2 : to support the new HTTP/2 protocol which improves the performance of your website
