fdisk is a command line partitioning program présent by default in all GNU/Linux distributions.

fdisk allows you to :

  • list the partitions of one or all hard drives.
  • create and delete partitions : primary, extended or logical (logical drives)
  • change the boot indicator (choice of the active partition)
  • change the system type of a partition (Linux, DOS, ...)
  • check the partition table of a hard disk
  • and more.
