open-iscsi is a cross-platform and high performance implementation of the iSCSI protocol to use a hard disk over the TCP/IP network.

open-iscsi is divided into 2 parts :

  • the user part that allows you to discover the iSCSI shares, to connect to them, ...
  • the kernel part which contains the implementation of the iSCSI (iSCSI reads and writes)

In the user part of open-iscsi, you will find the iscsid daemon and the iscsiadm program to manage the configuration of your iSCSI client.
